Our Summer Program is designed for both beginner and experienced track and field athletes who desire to be a part of our travel team and are committed to competing on a national level from start to completion of Junior Olympics (if qualified). This registration includes , Season End Party and Award, Secondary Insurance, and one national qualifier meet entry fee. Membership requirements: Registration Fee, Team fundraising requirement, Meet travel.
The elite outdoor season is our largest and longest season spanning, 4 - 6 months (April - 1st Week of August), and typically has about 3 travel meets per season. All travel is at the parent’s expense unless enough fundraising occurs to offset all or part of the athletes travel costs. Of the approximate 3 travel meets, one maybe a week-long and is what we work all season to achieve - the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics or similar type of National event, the location of this meet changes each year. This program is appropriate for athletes 6 – 18 years of age.
As we have youth ranging in age from 6 - 18, our junior high and high school athletes typically come out after the completion of their school's track season, somewhere in between April and May. However, registration is required prior to the closing date to ensure uniforms are ordered in a timely manner. Outside of your membership fees, you can expect out of pocket cost of $6 - $12 per meet per athlete/spectator each week.
Developmental meets begin in March and occur most weekends through mid-June. We average 1-2 meets per month, April - June. The developmental meets are held at various locations across the Houston Metropolitan area. Most meets are on Saturday, and typically start between 8am and 9am and end between 4pm and 6pm. Championship meets begin in mid-June and culminate with the National Championship at the end of July. Championship meets cover 2 -4 days and will span over weekdays. The complete schedule will be made available as soon as possible. The competitive meet entry fees range from $15 - $45; there are typically 3 - 4 meets in this price range. Travel Costs--most travel meets will only involve Fri - Sat/Sun, except the Junior Olympics which spans 8 days. The athletes primarily compete in 1-2 year age group.
Runners should arrive at the meets by 30 minutes before start to sign in and get their bib number and/or wrist band, which is required at the finish line. Meets start with a team warm-up. Athletes in 12 & under can compete in up to 3 events and athletes 13 & older can compete in up to 4 events. All meets, except championship meets run on a rolling schedule, meaning that one event will start right after the next. No firm schedule is posted and events can run early or late. Therefore you need to be present the duration of the developmental meet to ensure you make your race and to support your team mates!
